Cathy Howard, Jason, Jaclyn, Mark, Daniel and Xabriel...everyone. Uncle Rudi was simply such a good guy. I have very fond memories of staying at the house when I was a kid, uncle Rudi feeding me all my favourites in his ever present will to fill my hollow big toe. He loved his family and dogs, and, of course, his music. I am trying to remember when exactly but a number of years ago, we were visiting at the house on Glenforest and Uncle Rudi was showing John and I around his apartment and all his tapes from the radio, and I saw there was a female jazz trio he liked. Soon after I learned they were booked to play the Rex Hotel on Queen St. With some serious prodding, Uncle Rudi finally agreed to my date for that show- it was so great to be with him, out, seeing music. He always took an interest. He always asked the questions and really listened to the answers. My partner John always said how much he enjoyed talking to Uncle Rudi too -they bonded over music for sure. We love you Uncle Rudi. I am glad I forced you outside for our last visit, talking in the sunshine and looking at the flowers. Beautiful, just like you.

Like the Old Zaid long before him, Uncle Rudi was the end of a generation for our family. Even though it has been impossible in these difficult times to visit in person, it was always comforting to us to know that he was just a phone call away, and that he could be counted on to talk about not only the good old days but also the events and issues of the day with a discerning mind and a caring response. It seems a bit unreal to us to think that he is really gone now. It was very important to us that we had a chance to say hello and goodby to him on the phone when you were with him on Tuesday. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Lots of love to all of you, Irv and Heather
