I am saddened to learn of Bob''s passing. I was fortunate to know Bob and Gert through their friendship with my mother and step-father, Anita and John Bliss. Bob was so attentive to John, especially after the passing of my mother. They were near neighbours, not only in Toronto, but also in Florida, as ''snow-birds'' in active seniors'' retirement communities, firstly at Hillcrest in Hollywood, Florida and later at Wynmoor, in Coconut Creek near Pompano Beach. When John had difficulty in his mobility, Bob arranged for him to acquire a bicycle and repeatedly encouraged him to join him in bicycle riding around the community at Hillcrest. Bob maintained a level of energy that too many seniors find challenging. He had no qualms about driving solo to and from Florida so Gert could fly both ways and be met by Bob at the airports. He continued to serve Gert faithfully as her health had deteriorated and made it impossible for her to care for herself. I was always grateful to Bob who had intrigued me with his volunteering with the SAREL programme in Israel to work for a few weeks on a military base. He agreed to be my reference which resulted in my be accepted into the programme and have an unforgettable experience on my last trip to Israel. My sincere condolences to the family and may his memory be blessing.

Dear cousins, Gertie, Vernon, Dana, Priscilla, Patty and all of your families, My deepest condolences on the passing of Bob. Fortunately my dad had just sent time with him about a month ago at one of the last concerts at Baycrest and I had seen him casually in the halls of Baycrest on his way to Gertie''s room. Dear family of Bob , My appreciation for Bob stemmed from the several years he participated in our Men''s Discussion group at Baycrest Apotex. Bob''s tales had the ability to transport you from being just a listener to believing that you were actually an active participant in the story. We always enjoyed the strength of his convictions and his genuine depth of compassion. He has left a void in our group that we can only attempt to fill with wonderful memories of him. Bob shall certainly be missed by all. We send our heartfelt condolences.

To all of Bob''s family. I was shocked and so sorry to hear of Bob''s passing. I have known him for several years now as he was a participant in our Baycrest Men''s discussion group. Auntie Gertie, Vern, Priscilla, Patti and Family It is with a heavy heart that i learned of the passing of Uncle Bobby. He was the last part of of the Black family legacy... He was a genuine great guy...always had a story,, always had a smile.. he will now live on in the family you have all created. Dear Patti & entire Black Family: We are so saddened to learn of Bob''s passing. Our dad really enjoyed sharing meal time with him on the 2nd floor of the Apotex. We delighted in his tales of Kensington. He was a thoughtful man, with a real appreciation for music. Our thoughts are with your family at this difficult time. May Hashem comfort you among the mourners of Zion and Yerushalayim. BDE.
