Notice:
MARCEL HIMEL
Beloved son of the late Regine and Albert
Grinblat, and adopted son of the late Ruth and
Howard Himel, Marcel passed away on July 8th,
2021 at the age of 84. Marcel was the cherished
husband of Patty, and the adored and adoring
father of Nicole Himel and Hugh Lissaman and
Stephanie Himel and Tiran Hagigi. Marcel was
the biggest hero and cheerleader, and the most
beloved Shel, to Rachel and Leah Lissaman and
Eden Hagigi. Marcel was predeceased by his
brother Mel, and he leaves behind his sister
Linda Selverne, his sister-in-law Arlene Himel,
and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Peter and
Diane Mandell. Marcel was a child of the
Holocaust, who faced great challenges in his
life, both in France during and after the war
and after coming to Canada alone at the age of
12. Despite life's difficulties, he was one of
the finest and most humble and gracious men we
have ever known, and was unceasingly patient,
kind and gentle. He leaves behind family
members in Canada, Israel, the U.S. and France,
and countless dear lifelong friends. Marcel
loved deeply, and was loved deeply in return.
