Shelley I''m so saddened by this terrible and shocking news. Ian was his own kind of whirlwind. He was funny, kind and always inquisitive. Not only did we work together many moons ago, but I remember celebrating a birthday with you guys on Georgie''s patio and Ian with radio in tow always brought so many smiles. I''m so sorry for your loss.

Dear Shelley, My condolences to you and your in-laws. Ian was always so thoughtful and kind and had such a wonderful sense of humour and playfulness. I feel privileged to have gotten to know him over the years during the rides you both provided to Dundas to visit Vivi and Sid. It was lovely for me to watch the two of you interact together with such ease and grace. Your love for each other was always obvious, particularly when you teased each other. Please know you have my love and support always. Blessings to you.

To the Merman family, Our deepest condolences on the loss of your husband, brother, and son-in-law. Ian has been our sales representative for around 20 years. He will be deeply missed here at Paul Wolf. When he used to bring homer with him we all used to love it. There was so much pride on Ian''s face when he was with his beloved dog. There is no other passionate salesman in our industry Like Ian. He talked to everyone and anyone and always with a smile and a laugh. Ian gave all his customers 100, and there was nothing he wouldn''t do for us. Our hearts are broken today. May he rest in peace. He will always be remembered by us all. In time your may you share your stories and memories of Ian and may you smile and laugh just as he would want you too. All eyes on the game tonight as we pray Montreal gives Ian the win! RIP buddy you will be sadly missed!

Shelly, I am so sorry to hear of this news. Meeting Ian in the park so many years ago as a dog lover was a great day for me. You both were so good to my Charlie now gone and helped me out by offering to look after him when i travelled. Knowing how much you loved Golden''s and my loveable Charlie afforded me complete peace of mind to enjoy my holidays. Sending love and courage to come through this most difficult time.

Dear Shelley and the Merman Family, I am so sorry for your loss. Ian was one of a kind and will be missed by the entire Rosewell community. His love for every dog that walked by was endearing, as he ran to get a biscuit! He was friendly, passionate about his many travels and of course for his Montreal Candadiens! May memories bring you comfort and peace. With Love From Marcie and Tom

Homer and Bronx will be thrilled to have you in their pack up in doggy heaven . You will be missed for your humour insights and love of life . The locker room at north toronto has never been the same since you hung up your goalie pads despite our best efforts to drag you back in. You are literally riding into yourself next adventure in the great beyond leaving a void here for all that loved you . We are sad and wish we had more time to with you. But we are thankful to have known you . Say hi to Bronx and Homer for me my friend . Hugs Anthony

I am so sorry to hear about Ian''s passing. I have known Ian, through sports, for nearly 40 years. During the last decade or so, I would only see him annually, but it was always like we saw each other last week. He was so comfortable to be with. A real stand-up guy. I am sure that his beloved Montreal Canadians won in overtime last night to honour Ian.
